I have a recurring adware infection. New Internet Explorer windows keeping opening ad hoc despte pop-up blocker, routine running of SpyBot, AVG anf McAffee full packages.
I have done deep scan and surfaced something called LOP.C and EXPLOIT.CVE-2006-1359 with AVG and deleted it, but the problem and trjans/adware continue to reoccur.

No. But we will be checking back to see if anyone answers this. We have a piece of Adware (ShoppersReports) that we have been unable to find and get rid of. Our antivirus program keeps finding it and putting a pop-up in the middle of what we are doing. We use Trend Microvirus.

First of all, what you have is spyware, and AVG and McAfee neither one will get rid of it. If you have SpyBot, you should download the latest definitions, then immunize the computer again, then run a full bot check. That's about the only way you'll find and remove this stuff.
You shouldn't be running AVG and McAfee at the same time...that's asking for trouble.

I once owned one but had it repainted after a spill at the track left it looking a little less than desirable. It was only minor scratches(all over) but it just looked like $hit. I loved that helmet...
AVG is generally free and doesnt use as many memory resources as Mcafee does. McAfee you have to pay for inless its a free trial.
security wise there both as good as each other just that avg is free and faster - but thats my opinion as i've used both.
Not sure of the differences but I have used Avg free, Mcafee and Norton. Of all three the AVG worked the best. In Fact, I ran mcafee to scan and it was clean ran the avg and it found 3 infected files on my pc. We used our year for free then purchased the internet suite. Firewall is great and we have had no problems.
I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. This is how I did it uninstall avg 7.1 don't do the repair thing it has bugs.
Then install a clean avg 7.5, I would presume that you already downloaded it.
Don't do the upgrade thing you will have problem with their updates.
If they are not removing support for avg 7.1, I would stick with it. I think it's better than 7.5.

Just highlight it in your virus vault and delete it, it shouldn't affect your program at all. If you have Xp you can then go back to where Adobe was not messed up and upgrade it.
Juz go to the vault %26 delete the Trojan Horse . But before that it is advisable for you to create a System Restore . It is to make sure that if by deleteing the trojan in the vault %26 it causes ur PC to malfunction, you can resotre it to the actual state .

You should create a restore point just to be safe. Delete the trojan horse that AVG has quarnetined, even if it deletes the infected files.
Now, to be able to uninstall Adobe 7 in order to install Adobe 8 you need to reinstall Adobe 7 to recreate any infected or deleted files, including the uninstall information. Once you have reinstalled Adobe 7 you should be able to now uninstall it properly. Once it is uninstalled then install Adobe 8.

Removeit Pro. Find it over on Majorgeeks.com. If it can't get rid or a virus, it will tell you where it's at so u can go and delete it manually. I use it along with my usual scans.

what AVG may be detecting is the virus in you system restore files if it is it can't delete it the OS won't let it what you need to do is temporarily disable system restore that will delete the files when it's finished deleting the files then re-enable system restore to disable it open the control panel double click on system click the system restore tab but a tick in the box which reads "Turn off system restore on all drives" click apply when the files have been deleted remove the tick and click apply again that should cure your proplem
You wouldn't! AVG is perfectly acceptable and works fine. I work in online technical support and I have yet to see AVG causing connection problems even after automatic updates, but it's quite a different story for Norton. It causes a lot of connection issues after updates, especially to secure websites and their support is not free. You're better off with free AVG for anti-virus and Zone Alarm for firewall.

First of all it doesn't matter which program you use for protection, it depends on with what you get this viruses. Are you downloading stuff, maybe illegal?! Also a good firewall can help, not the windows firewall. Spybot is more for destroying and finding spyware when it is already on your computer. AVG which one are you having? Spyware or virusprotection?
AVG lets mostly the computer directly infacting with the virus. Avira is a bit different, it often tells you directly when a virus tries to hack in your system. Avast, restores the virus to the original file, most likely a download.

I think I may be able to help you here as I have just changed from an AGV to a Shark. The first thing is that both AGV and Shark make helmets across different ranges and specifications. I have worn AGV's for over twenty years as they were a good helmet and fitted my head shape. I even hit a tree with one on and still have my head so you could say they work well. The Shark I have just aquired is a racing model and a bit further up the price range from the AGV's that I used to get so naturally I would expect, and have gotten, a helmet that is better ventilated, quieter, lighter and better padding. It is also made of stronger and lighter materials than the lower priced models of Sharks. I like both brands and would recommend them. I would suggest that you try as many different brands and models as you can to find one that fits your head and do not by the cheapest. There used to be an old saying 'Buy a twenty dollar helmet if you have a twenty dollar head.' Lastly never ever buy a second hand helemet, ever, even if it looks new.

AGV makes great helmets and I always considered them under rated by most consumers.

They're both quality helmets. Arai pays a bit more attention to comfort, like in the liner fabric.
But fit is far more important. It's like shoes, different manufacturers make slightly different shapes.
Like someone else said - the fit is different from these manufacturers.
You will need to try on AGV, Arai and Shoei to see what fits.
If you plan on spending time at high speeds, the fit of your helmet is extremely important.
I've tried on hundreds of different helmets, but always end up with a Shoei, because it fits. Other people are lucky, and can find a good fit in a bunch of different manufacturers.
If you haven't spent big $$ on a helmet before, then you really should go into a quality motorcycle shop and get properly fitted for one.
Most people will purchase a too-large helmet if they're not fitted. Too big can be okay for slow speeds - but higher speeds, and that big helmet will lift up, vibrate, whistle, and be one distraction you DON'T want at speed!

Open My Computer, right-click on your hard drive, and choose Properties from the pop-up menu. Click the Disk Cleanup button in the lower right of the window, then follow the prompts to clear temporary files from your computer.
Do this before you run your virus scanner, check your disk for errors, or defrag. It won't eliminate the wait, but it will definitely shorten it. If you don't do this, your system has to scan ALL those Temporary Internet Files, etc.

Before I left for vacation a week ago, I uninstalled AGV free and installed Yahoo norton protection (the yellow the sign on the toolabr was annoying me and AGV does not have a firewall). Well, I have just come back and now the initinal loadup of my computer takes longer and when I load up my account on this computer, it takes twice as long. I do not use this computer alone, but I have already checked and nothing has either been downloaded or installed in the week of my absence. After that load up, the computer runs smoothly. Is this the cause of Norton or a more sinister item? (As of yet, the virus scan has found nothing.)

First off, if you are using a Router, which most people today are using....Why are you worried about a Firewall? Your Router is the best protection that you could have, provided it is set up correctly. If you are not using a Router (and I would suggest getting one, even if you are not networking. I used to use Symantec producs for a long time , but I`ll never do that mistake again. They broke my PC and I didn`t even had a virus or spy. Anyways as also stated before, they`re all kinda`the same, it`s also about the user using the PC. It depend how often do you do scans and updates.
AVG it`s a very good one , I`m actually surprised you got a virus using AVG. You also need to realise that it`s ALWAYS the virus that comes out first and then the antivirus companies release an update to fight/delete/cure that virus.
I am running Norton 2008 and it will not bring this virus up. I found it running a virus scan at Microsoft website and it said it couldn't fix or remove it. I removed Norton and ran AGV and found Generic_c.IKY but not the other virus. AGV removed this virus but didn't show the other one either. Is Norton that bad that it didn't find either? What do I do to remove the Tibs virus? Any help is appreciated. I don't want to reformat and lose 5 yrs of stuff but don't feel safe banking online at this point.

recently i discovered that i had an extra antivirus program. this of course caused conflict so i started to look for it. had agv 7.5 which i wanted to upgrade to 8.0. went the normal route. unistalled 7.5 downloaded 8.0 the hit run. it came up with you have an anti virus program running.so i started to look for it.went through search etc. could not find it. so as it was due decided after backup to do a cmplete reinstall of my os.windows xp home. then started to reinstall my security .first program i installed was zone alarm. when i went to the website and looked for the free program it came with an optional antivirus program. voila the mystery antivirus program.it must have been added during one of the updates as an optional extra but as you tend to allow updates of security programs automatically it came through.so if you are using these free programs watchout for these upgrades. it could save you a lot of headaches.

No, the AVG Free Edition is not going to be discontinued. What will be discontinued is AVG Free Edition 7.1 because version 7.5 is coming out in January of 2007. The program will still be free.

This is my third question today,I am unprotected at the moment as I un installed my McAfee as it was showing that it was running out.I had heard of AVG and therefore took off McAfee and tried to install AVG, but AGV said that they had detected an outdated version on my PC of Roxio Easy CD %26DVD Creator which contained a bug and that it would cause a problem if I did'nt update the version,(this was put on by the Manufacturers of my P%26gt;C%26gt;) I therefore tried to update same ,Roxio wouldn't let me.

I would suggest switching to Nero to burn CDs/DVDs.
Roxio can create lots of issues on a PC, so you should un-install that program, at least temporarily, so that you can run the AVG installation without any error messages.

Don't run two AV programs (or firewalls for that matter) they can seriously conflict. If your subscription is good on the Norton and your getting the updates you should be "good to go".

I recommend CCleaner as well (just run it with default settings). It helps to run it before Anti-spyware scanners to get a better idea of what the real threat(s) are in the scan results. (CCleaner clears out the tracking cookies which would show up in the scans.)

when you ran AVG did it quaritine those 5 threats? If it did delete them. If it didn't you may need to try ccleaner or spybot search n destroy to delete them. try start%26gt;control panel%26gt; internet option%26gt;delete%26gt; delete all option tick box for ad ons and yes. That should get rid of cookies, prior to that run antispyware, for me this is a part of my shut down procedure, every time I log off, aand defrag your hard drive every fortnight. Regular house keeping helps keep your pc running in its prime. More info on how much ram you running also this could speed it up, but get rid of threats first.

I downloaded Nero vision on Ares but it came with over 30 different 1MB zipped files(mainly Pinnacle,Cyberlink,rapidshare...)
When i scan those zipped files, AGV detects nothing in them. I keep deleting them and emptying my recycle bin but they keep reappearing in my shared folder anytime I reboot my pc. When I hover my mouse over something, 2 minutes and 18 seconds JUST to change the cursor, as in when you hover a link sometimes the arrow changes into a hand? It takes that long just to do that. Then, when I take it off the link to change back to an arrow, another 2 minutes. ANYtime I click something it takes forever and it says "not responding" so I have to wait about 5 minutes just to get to a link. CRTL ALT DELETE takes 3 minutes, minimizing/maximizing/closing programs takes about 1 minute and 30 seconds. And--well, you get the point.
The other day I found RegCure and had a free scan and found 925 errors in my registry but I didn't buy it so I used my trusty CCleaner but I don't know if it got all the errors or whats wrong. I'm pretty sure all my trojan horses and viruses are removed, but in my AGV free addition virus vault-somehow I can't cure the viruses and trojan horses- so those are stuch there too. AVG is great for protecting your computer as long as you do regular scans, do a major scan atleast once a week. I also use spyware terminator and comodo firewall which are fantastic freeware programs. try defragging your computer (in 'my computer' right click on the C drive and go to properties, select the tools tab and then click on the defrag button, this can take a few hours so start it when you go to bed or something).

Hmmm... interesting problem.
You have two possibilities - either:
1) The Hotspot's blocking you for some reason
(doesn't like your IP address / the MAC address of your wifi / your browser / who knows)
Solution: Go into the hotspot and say you have a colleague coming in from out of town, that you've mentioned the place and ask if they have any set-up for access he should be prepared for. Ask them the steps so that there are no hassles.
2) Something's gone wonky in your computer.
Solution: Start up Google Earth and look up a new place on it. Vancouver, BC perhaps? I, personally, think Google Earth's running off the info it downloaded before, hence the check.

I have a feeling that when you click youtube, you are being redirected to some other website (a hijack) OR to an html code residing in your PC. Try using AboutBuster and CWShredder. Delete or fix what they find. Also install SpywareBlaster by Javacool (easy to find them via Google) and Advanced WindowsCare and use their immunize features (read up on them). All these software are free and very very good. Also install HijackThis and scan your computer with it but don't do anything with what it finds. Just copy and paste the scan log here so we can take a look at it. You can edit your question and add to it by posting the HJT scan log contents.
BTW, everyone, try using TheWorld Browser. I have been using it but no infection so far for almost 8 months now. And that's unusual for me..hehe

when using InternetExplorer, i get between 2 and 10 randomly opening identical windows per minute.
And when OutlookExpress is open, new mail windows seem to open on their own at will.
I use ZoneAlarm, and AGV antivirus, AdAware and recently Spybot-Search+Destroy, all of which are updated and run regularly.
Any ideas as to what could be causing this REALLY annoying problem, and how to fix it, would be greatly appreciated.

No idea what it is.Try doing a system restore on your computer, take it back to an earlier date when things were fine. This can be very effective if the problem is spyware or malware.
Go to Internet options.
Look at the down-loaded files and identify which files have been down loaded recently.
Check the "properties and security certificates" for these down loads.
If you can't identify it from this get professional help from your supplier.

I installed a mcafee disc onto my pc 12 months ago which has now expired. I installed the same disc onto my laptop in august and the expiry date is aug 2008. So, i reinstalled it onto my pc but it still has the expired date on it. How is this and what can i do to sort it out? Or are there any more free ones like the agv free there used to be?
If you backup your data and reinstall XP on the desktop, then reinstall McAfee, it should run for 12 months from the date of the new install. Alternatively, you could try to find where in the registry the date info is stored, but that could take longer than a rebuild.

The way Windows estimates Hard drive space is a little unusual and hard to understand. What it tells you is left is actually more of a estimation rather than the actual. Fragmentation and running on the fly makes it look smaller in size. just formating the drive it will tell you there is 20 megs less than factory. It is difficult to explain in full but it shouldn't be that big of a problem once you start using it. Windows also automatically divides a slice from the hard drive to use as virtual RAM. along with paging files. basically windows is a hog for the hard drive as much as the ram. You could disable the auto backup feature if you feel you wont need it, but only if your very careful.

my bfs computer has a trojan/virus on it, but i cant get rid of it. ive used virus checkers spy doctor and spybot search and destory and he also has avg or agv? something like that anyway, but it just wont go.
when you open up IE or firefox, the homepage loads but if you try to go to another page, the page just completly freezes and in IE blank tabs and windows keep opening and theres also the pop ups too.
ive uninstalled all the unecessary programs he had on there like poker, toolbars etc, ive also reset IE's settings and uninstalled and then re installed FF hoping it may do something after completing the virus scans. but the same thing keeps happening.
the os is vista.
any ideas?

Any advise or suggestion on getting a good (Free) Pop up killer, I AGV anti-virus and service pack 2 firewall but I get a few pop up's getting through espcially when I first start up.

If the pop ups appear when you're online, activate your browsers pop up blocker. Go to tools - internet options - block pop ups.
But if they appear on your pc when you're not connected to the net then you have either spyware or adware on your pc. Run Spybot S%26D and Ad-Aware SE Personal to get rid of them.

Anyone use a Arai Tour helmet? I ride a TDM900 and currently use a AGV Kinetic helmet, but find that I get no air circulation from the chin area (bit of a Brucie Forsyth chin I'm afraid) which causes the visor to mist up. I've tried on the Arai Tour and with the extra chin room this should be OK, but I'm not sure about the peak on the helmet at high speeds whipping my head back? Or do I go for a Shoei Raid which has more room than my existing helmet?
I just bought the Shoei Raid II yesterday, the shop i bought it in let me try both on. I've a big face and was suprised how comfortable the Shoei was, previous helmets always had one area which was uncomfortable .. this one didn't. As one of the previous posts says, the shop probably won't let you borrow their helmet .. incase you damage it etc, but they will let you wear it in the shop for a while to see how it feels after time - seeing if there's any stress marks etc. Only you know what fits you and the only way you'll be able to tell is by trying it on. I'd seriously go against mail order, unless you've tried it on in the shop first - but then you've wasted the nice people in the shops time and have nowhere to go if you have any issues/querys at a later date.

You should ask the dealer to loan you a helmut before you buy one, I bought a ARAI and seem to get a lot of noise but it is liter than shoei, but the shoei is definately quiter
try both on at a dealer to see what feels more comfortable for you also price could be the difference.some people feel that either shoei or arai is better but really comes down to personal taste.
I am going to get a new helmet to wear with my vintage vespa and my sport bike. I want something SNELL and DOT that is well-ventilated and very lightweight. Money is not really much of an object but i'd like to stay below 400 or 350 normal retail price. I'm considering Suomy, AGV, Arai or Shoei. Let me know!
No one, not even the dealer, can answer this. Go to your local dealer grab each different model from one manufacturer and try them on and compare. Go to the next manufacturer and repeat, etc.... take the one from each manufacturer and compare again. Don't look at the price, just compare how it feels. Keep in mind while comparing that the padding will loosen in a week (maybe two), so get a helmet that's very, very, snug. It should press your cheeks in and should be snug around top of head (not giving you a headache). Keep each helmet on for a few minutes(walk around the store even). When you finally narrow it down you may then look at the price. It may be $450+ , but at least you'll get a better idea why. Also, (very important) ask the dealer to tell you which helmets have the options to change cheek pad thickness. Arai (and some higher-end shoei's) let you change the thickness so if you find a helmet that fits perfect around the top of your head but doesn't feel right at the cheeks, this will help greatly which is another reason for the cost so keep that into consideration if you pick out a $450+ helmet. I'm not sure about AGV or Suomy. I do know Arai helmets with those features can be purchased around $350-$400 basic white or black color (Colors add $30 - $50. Graphics can add $100+ to the price) There are other options such as removealbe liner, etc. that affect price... Half, three quarter, and flip-up hybrid are NOT snell approved. Look for snell sticker on back of helmet.
the trojan is called trojan.peacomm i have had it on my pc since January 19, 2007, but can not get rid of it i have scanned my pc with norton,agv many more but can not get rid of it, i know its still there cause this pop up comes on my screen saying protect my, when i click yes, the name trojan.peacomm, comes on in red writing, theres i red %26gt;!%26lt; flashing at the bottom of my screen, is there a way i can get rid or not thanks for reading my question just hope you can help me

The next thing to do is restart your computer and keep pressing f8, (basicaly login as safe mode), and run that software , and you should be all ok,
May have to delete the particluar trojan from windows registery but you shouldnt nee dto do that. avg take scare of it.

Save everything you can't stand to lose onto a flash drive or another hard drive, or discs, and reformat and reload windows and all yer programs. If they virus killers can't get it, it's the only way for mere mortals.
You can normally remove that one with Ad-Aware SE Personal, free to download.
I just got my friend onto the internet but she appears to have a virus on her computer (it may be something else but if it is a virus it's a good one!) I decided that I'd better get her some virus protection, searched AVG and Internet Explorer closed, searched antivirus software and it closed again, tried searching virus, anti* etc. but eveytime it closed, finally managed to get on the site by searching AGV download but guess what???
Sooo, I went on to my computer and downloaded the file to load AVG on to her computer, transferred it with a chip reader and tried to open the file, absolutely nothing happens whichever way I try (run, open from explorer, add/remove programs)
What I really need to know, is it a virus? if so how do I get rid of it, I have only tried loading AVG so maybe it is specific to that program are there any other good free antivirus software (or even a trial version but one that removes viruss and doesn't just search for them)
Any help would be appreciated.

why not use avg internet security 7.5 and avg spyware 7.5?they are not free edition

If they are sold in your town, get him a gift certificate. A helmet should be tried for fit before you buy.
my best advice is to just research it on google or somethign and see the differnt designs and see whaihc one fits his bike the best.

It is very important the helmet fits correctly, and I can only see that happening if he tries it on in the shop.
Take him to a motorcycle shop that sells that brand of helmet. Have him measured with a tape, the shop should have a special tape measure that will tell him which size he should wear. Then try on the helmet. Everybody's head is different and the fit is critical. Nothing worse than a helmet that rubs a part of your head raw after a couple of hours riding. Also be aware that manufactures sizes will vary, ie. not all size medium's are equal. So it's best to be able to try on the helmet.

Though AVG is a reccomended program sometimes when people do things that they think wouldn't be a problem with their computer they interfere with the program and destroy an important component of it. Avg lately isn't working roperly though and there's alot of contravercy if it really works anymore. I would personally get rid of it and get a new one, One thing i noticed with it about a year or so ago is that it only gets the well known viruses. Go to www.trendmicro.com and do the free virus and spyware scan, after remove the viruses with the prompt that comes up. It's safe free and it can show you just how well AVG works. Get Avast all in one aswell, it works against everything.
AVG is total junk. Delete it now. I recommend antivir free edition.

I had a similar problem with AVG when I switched my drive filing type. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the problem was fixed. I would try that.

I just bought a popy of "Personal computer world" and it has a free cd with 5 programs including AGV anti virus professional7.5, with a one year license, should I remove my old AGV7.5 and install this instead? Yes remove any old previouis version of your antivirus. restart then install the new version. you really dont need a firewall. if you have windows xp just use the windows firewall.
I would uninstall AVG, visit their website and download the latest version. Most likely the one on the cd is outdated.

I am always requested to press F2 before xp starts. when my comp starts date and time is always incorrect. How can i stop this from happening? Is my infected with a virus or malware? How old is your computer? There is a small battery which enables the motherboard to hold the basic settings. If this is old it may need replacing. Try asking someone at your local computer shop to test it for you.

generally, there is a manual included and/or the instructions are printed on the box itself.
open the computer (turn off and unplug first!!!) then look for the agp port on your motherboard and fit it in there. make sure you unscrew the backplate so the connections can go to the outside. screw in the backplate of the card, close case and startup the computer install drivers and your done!
YOUR COMPUTER MUST BE SHUT DOWN AND OFF BEFORE PROCEEDING.
Assuming you have an AGP slot on your motherboard (it's a tan or brown slot and it's further back from the back of the case than your PCI slots which would be cream or white in color).
You will have to unscrew a mounting screw at the back of your computer tower, which is used to hold the card in the slot once it is in. Sometimes there are "dummy" panel covers screwed into place so that the back of the case isn't just open and you would remove that panel cover. Set the video card into the slot and gently press down on the top of the card, pushing it into the slot. You want to press either end of the card from the top to make sure it's seated in the slot. You will notice a notch at the top of the metal back of the slot which you then screw down using the screw you removed earlier.

What is the size of your Ram and how many process are you running, and see what is sarting up when you turn on the computer.
You can control what starts up by pressing the start button and go to run and type Msconfig press ok go to the start up (do not mess with the services tab) and you can chose what to start up and what you dont want to start.
restart the computer and see if that helps a bit.
I am assuming that you have low memory on the lap top
If your running vista with only 512 then your system will seem slow.

I have used AGV and that didnt detect anything, so I put on Panda and it told me I had 38 viruses on my computer. That has since run out and I need another one. I dont want to pay for one (no money) Please help ( no rude comments as I have had enough of them every time I put a question on here!!!)
Avast is a very good and free anti virus programme. Goto www.download.com and search for it on there,there are many free security tools on this site which would suit any computer user and I would reccommend 'spyware terminator' for getting rid of those spyware bits n bobs.
get avira antivir, it is actually better than avg, and also free: http://www.free-av.com This antivirus consistently comes out better than most paid av programs in tests. (note: make sure to uninstall both avg and panda before you install avira - as having multiple antivirus programs can cause conflicts)
